Shelf style freeze dryers can be programmed to freeze, primary dry, secondary dry and store your samples. They do freeze your samples, so you will not need an ultra low freezer. SP Scientific offers a freeze dryer that emulates the larger pilot and production lyophilizers with +/- 1°C shelf tolerance. There are many options and accessories to choose from. Small Pilot Scale

The next step up from the shelf style bench top freeze dryers is the small scale pilot unit. These units can have up to 6 shelves, come in various refrigeration packages and can be programmed to freeze, primary dry, secondary dry and hold your samples/product until ready to remove from the unit. The GPFD - General Purpose Freeze Dryer is ideal for bulky product, such as floral arrangements and taxidermy specimens where low energy input is required and long freeze drying cycles are common.
The GPFD is available in 25 and 35 Liter configurations.
Condenser refrigeration packages of -53°C or -85°C allow you to configure the most economical system for your products The GPFD is available in 2 to 5 shelf configurations with optional programmable heat.
